A beautiful little marine puffer fish. Can even be suited to a small marine aquarium, we recommend at least 100 litres for easy care. Suited to most home aquaria, it is certainly a personable addition to any marine aquarium. Caution should be taken if putting this little puffer with invertebrates as they have an appetite for a lot of types such as crabs and especially meaty snails like the sand sifting ones. expect lots of empty shells if you introduce this little gem to a fully stocked reef with clean up crews.
Although compatible with nearly all other marine fish species it is very difficult to keep them alongside fish of the same family. Keep only one toby puffer per aquarium, unless you can obtain a confirmed pair we don't recommend introducing multiple toby puffers as the results are very often negative. Males can be distinguished by beautiful flashes of blue streaks behind the eyes.
Be careful to avoid stressing this fish as it will inflate when threatened. It is essential if this happens that the puffer is allowed time and space to recover from such an episode as they are very vulnerable to getting stuck in this state.
