How to Care for Clownfish

If you purchase a clownfish, be prepared for an active and clever fish that loves to play pranks. To properly care for a clownfish, you need to provide a safe haven with minimal activity for optimal behaviour; too small a tank and they will attack their tankmates. Too large a tang with large tankmates and they may feel to threatened and attach themselves to a corner or the tank or the weir!! 

When wanting a single clown to go with an existing clown, always inform us as if we send the wrong one it can go horribly wrong. Clownfish do not play nice with conspecifics (fish that are!/ or look the same) unless it's an acceptable mate. Which would evidently have to be smaller than the one you currently have. Failing that can result in the new fish trying to jump free of the tank or even worse getting killed by their potential partner!

Remember Clownfish are highly territorial and aren't afraid to eliminate a threat. Unless it is incrediblely large in which case they will hide away in the tank often in a corner or another area of the tank which isn't a pleasing view. So do your Clownfish justice and keep them in an ideal setup. Small with no other tankmates or a larger aquarium with smaller and or peaceful tankmates.
